Technical Details

Kahrs Engineered Construction

Kahrs invented engineered wood flooring back in 1941 and remain one of the world’s leading authorities on engineered timber floors today. Their innovative multi-layer construction creates a floor that is far more stable, flexible and sustainable than if solid hardwood were used throughout the entire board.

Faster-growing softwoods such as spruce and pine are used in the lower structural layers of the board. These timbers are less reactive to temperature and humidity changes than hardwoods like oak, allowing the floor to expand and contract naturally throughout the seasons without undermining the integrity of the planks.

This construction also makes Oak Grano Matt suitable for use with underfloor heating and helps ensure more responsible use of valuable hardwood resources. Rather than using oak throughout the full thickness of the board, Kahrs use premium quality hardwood where it matters most – on the visible wear layer – while utilising more stable and sustainable softwoods beneath.

The result is a floor that is stronger, more dimensionally stable and significantly more environmentally responsible than traditional solid hardwood flooring.

Quick and Easy Installation

Oak Grano Matt features the innovative Kährs Woodloc® 5G click-joint system.

The boards click and lock tightly together to create a strong, stable and gap-free floor without the need for adhesives. The floor can be installed as a floating floor over underlay or glued down where preferred.

Floating installation allows acoustic and thermal underlay to be used beneath the floor, helping improve comfort underfoot while reducing noise transmission between rooms.

The precision engineering of the Woodloc® system is one of the reasons Kahrs floors have built such a strong reputation amongst both homeowners and professional installers alike.

By keeping the board to a 14mm thickness, Kahrs have been able to create a competitively priced floor that still has all the hallmarks of quality you would expect from them.

Fixed-length planks for a clean, professional and flowing look, no busy random lengths that disrupt the look and feel of the space. The width of the Oak Grano planks also makes a noticeable difference here. Once installed across a full room, they create a more premium, expansive look than narrower boards, with fewer visual interruptions and a cleaner overall finish.
