Kahrs Oak Dublin Oiled
Kahrs Oak Dublin Oiled is one of the most refined floors within the European Renaissance Collection. Like Oak Berlin, it is produced using a carefully selected oak grade with minimal knots and a cleaner overall appearance, creating a floor that feels calm, sophisticated and unmistakably premium.
Where more rustic grades celebrate variation and character, Oak Dublin takes a different approach. The focus here is on elegant grain patterns, subtle natural colour variation and a more uniform visual flow across the room. The result is a floor that allows the beauty of the oak itself to take centre stage without distraction.
The soft natural tones create a warm and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining a sense of restraint and sophistication. Once installed, the wide 187mm planks help create exceptional visual continuity throughout the space, making rooms feel larger, brighter and more cohesive.
This is a floor that works beautifully in contemporary homes, Scandinavian-inspired interiors, luxury apartments and modern renovations where clean lines, natural materials and understated elegance are central to the design.
Natural Oil Finish
Oak Dublin is finished with natural oil, one of the most authentic finishes available for real wood flooring.
Unlike lacquered surfaces that sit on top of the timber, oil penetrates the wood itself, enhancing the natural grain and allowing the oak to retain its tactile, organic character. This creates a softer, more natural appearance with a subtle low-sheen finish that showcases the beauty of the timber rather than masking it.
The oil finish also allows the floor to age gracefully over time, developing additional character as it matures. Kahrs recommends applying an additional coat of maintenance oil after installation to help protect the surface and seal the board joints.

Premium Engineered Construction
Kahrs invented engineered wood flooring in 1941 and remain one of the world’s leading authorities on engineered timber floors. Oak Dublin benefits from their advanced multi-layer construction, which creates a floor that is significantly more stable than traditional solid wood flooring.
The structure combines a premium 3.5mm oak wear layer with multiple layers of spruce and pine beneath. These softer, faster-growing timbers are naturally more tolerant of temperature and humidity fluctuations, allowing the floor to cope more effectively with seasonal changes.
This innovative construction makes Oak Dublin suitable for underfloor heating while also using valuable hardwood resources more responsibly. The result is a floor that delivers the beauty of real oak alongside exceptional long-term stability and durability.
Wide Planks for a More Premium Appearance
One of the standout features of Oak Dublin is its impressive 187mm plank width. Wide boards allow more of the oak’s natural grain to be appreciated and create cleaner sight lines throughout the room.
Combined with Kahrs’ fixed-length board format, the floor achieves a flowing, uninterrupted appearance that many lower-cost random-length floors simply cannot replicate. Fewer end joints create a calmer, more luxurious aesthetic and help emphasise the scale of larger spaces.
In open-plan rooms especially, the visual impact is considerable.
Installation
Oak Dublin features the highly regarded Woodloc® 5S locking system, designed to create strong, precise and gap-free installations.
The floor can be installed as a floating floor over a suitable underlay or glued directly to the subfloor where preferred. The precision of the Woodloc® joint system helps ensure long-term performance while simplifying installation for both professional fitters and experienced DIY installers.
Sustainability and Indoor Air Quality
Sustainability has been a core part of the Kahrs philosophy for decades. The engineered construction itself is an environmental innovation, allowing premium hardwoods to be used efficiently while reducing demand on slower-growing timber resources.
Kahrs also maintains exceptionally high standards for responsible sourcing, product longevity and indoor air quality, helping create healthier living environments without compromising on performance or aesthetics.
Our Expert View
We often find customers are torn between heavily rustic floors full of knots and variation, and very contemporary floors that can sometimes feel cold or overly processed. Oak Dublin sits beautifully between those extremes.
The selected grade gives the floor a cleaner, more sophisticated appearance, but the natural beauty of the real hardwood oak is undeniably showcased. There is enough natural grain movement and colour variation to retain authenticity, without the larger knots and stronger contrasts associated with more characterful grades.
The wide planks make a huge contribution to the overall look. Once laid, the floor feels expansive, elegant and exceptionally well balanced. We particularly like Oak Dublin in contemporary interiors featuring warm neutrals, natural stone, soft textures and minimalist design schemes where the flooring needs to look refined rather than rustic.
We’ve worked with Kahrs flooring for many years and Oak Dublin demonstrates exactly why they continue to be regarded as one of the finest engineered flooring manufacturers in the world. The quality of the oak selection, the precision of the construction and the overall finish quality are all immediately apparent.
For customers looking for a cleaner-grade oak floor with timeless appeal and outstanding long-term value, Oak Dublin is an excellent choice.
