They were the first to develop an engineered, multi-layer floor, way back in 1941. Using under-layers of flexible softwoods, meant the floors were far less reactive to moisture and temperature changes, increasing their strength and durability.
Always eco conscious, Kahrs gained ISO 14001 environmental certification in 1997, as waste products from production are turned into heating for the local community around the main factroy plant in Nybro, Sweden. Any ash residue from production is also used as fertilizer in the surrounding forests.
